Mostly owner-run businesses, shops and service providers across the UK — the size where there is no internal IT team and the person deciding is also the person running the business. We are based in Southend-on-Sea and work with clients well beyond it; almost everything can be run over calls and shared documents.

No fixed floor. A single-page site, a logo refresh and a full web application are all things we do, and they are quoted differently. If a job is genuinely better served by an off-the-shelf tool than by us building something, we will say so on the first call rather than three weeks in.

Defined pieces of work — a brand identity, a website, a specific application — are quoted as a fixed price against a written scope, so you know the number before anything starts. Open-ended or evolving work runs on an agreed monthly or day-rate basis instead, because fixed-pricing an unknown just pushes the risk into padding.

Design, build, testing and launch are in the quote. Third-party costs — hosting, domain names, paid plugins, stock photography, app store fees — are listed separately and either billed at cost or paid by you directly, so they are visible up front rather than appearing as an adjustment later.

It depends far more on decisions and content than on build time. A brochure site is usually weeks; a custom application is usually months. You get a dated plan with the quote, and the single biggest cause of slippage is waiting on copy, photography or access to an existing system — so we ask for those early.

Five stages: discovery and research, planning, design, development, then launch and handover. You see work at the end of each stage rather than once at the end — changing direction at the design stage costs a conversation, changing it after development costs a rebuild.

Front-loaded. Expect real involvement during discovery and at each review point, and very little in between. What we need from you is decisions and source material, not supervision.

You do, on final payment. That includes the design files, the source code and the domain and hosting accounts, which are set up in your name wherever possible. You should never be in a position where leaving your agency means losing your website.

Yes — that is the default, not an upgrade. Sites are built so prices, opening hours, staff and pages can be changed by someone who is not technical, and handover includes showing you how. If you would rather we handled changes, that is a support arrangement, not a lock-in.

Anything that does not work as specified gets fixed as part of the project. Beyond that, ongoing hosting, updates, security patching and changes can be arranged as a monthly agreement or handled ad hoc — whichever suits how often you actually need us.

Often not, and we will tell you when. AI earns its place on repetitive, high-volume, rules-light work — sorting enquiries, filling forms, watching for anomalies. If your bottleneck is a slow website or a manual spreadsheet, fixing that returns more than a model will.

That is a scoping decision made before anything is built, not a detail discovered afterwards. Which provider, what leaves your systems, what is retained and what stays on your own infrastructure are all written down as part of the design — particularly where customer or patient data is involved.
